Educational Course Body MRI: How We Do It Cirrhotic Liver & HCC
نویسنده
چکیده
• HCC is the most important differential diagnosis for focal liver lesions in the cirrhotic liver • Detection of HCC is crucial to ensure early therapy and proper patient management • Challenging differential diagnoses for HCC are mainly regenerative nodules and pre-neoplastic nodules • MRI provides a multiparametric approach to detect and characterize HCC – including MR signal in T2w images and DWI, vascularity of the lesions and uptake behaviour with hepatobiliary contrast agents

DISCRIMINATION OF HEPATOCELLULAR CARCINOMA FROM CIRRHOTIC NODULES BY AgNOR STAIN
Discrimination of regenerative cirrhotic nodules of the liver (CN) from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is sometimes difficult. We examined the utility of AgNOR staining in this context. Fifteen cases of HCC and 25 cases of CN were stained by AgNOR method and the mean AgNOR number for one hundred nuclei in each case was determined. There was a significant difference between the mean AgNOR c...
متن کاملMagnetic resonance imaging of the cirrhotic liver: diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma and evaluation of response to treatment - Part 1
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the modern gold standard for the noninvasive evaluation of the cirrhotic liver. The combination of arterial phase hyperenhancement and delayed wash-out allows a definitive diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in patients with liver cirrhosis or chronic liver disease, without the requirement for confirmatory biopsy. That pattern is highly specific and h...
متن کاملThe expression of transporter OATP2/OATP8 decreases in undetectable hepatocellular carcinoma by Gd-EOB-MRI in the explanted cirrhotic liver.
PURPOSE The aim of this study is to evaluate the detectability of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in the explanted cirrhotic liver using gadoxetic acid-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (Gd-EOB-MRI) and the degree of organic anion transporter OATP2/OATP8 (OATP1B1/1B3) HCC which could not be preoperatively detected by multi-detector computed tomography (MD-CT) and Gd-EOB-MRI. METHODS Eleven p...
متن کاملRecent Advances in CT and MR Imaging for Evaluation of Hepatocellular Carcinoma.
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignancies worldwide. Accurate diagnosis and assessment of disease extent are crucial for proper management of patients with HCC. Imaging plays a crucial role in early detection, accurate staging, and the planning of management strategies. A variety of imaging modalities are currently used in evaluating patients with suspected HCC; thes...
متن کاملThreshold doses and prediction of visually apparent liver dysfunction after stereotactic body radiation therapy in cirrhotic and normal livers using magnetic resonance imaging
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the threshold dose for focal liver damage after stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) in cirrhotic and normal livers using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). A total of 64 patients who underwent SBRT for liver tumors, including 54 cirrhotic patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and 10 non-cirrhotic patients with liver metastases, we...
